I think the FedEx-Memphis relationship is no different than

Papa John's-Louisville relationship. I know FedEx is the primary sponsor of the basketball arena (i.e. FedExForum) used by the Tigers and Grizzlies. If FedEx decide to end their partnership with the Redskins (i.e. FedExField), then it wouldn't surprise me if FedEx worked out a deal with the city of Memphis to become the primary sponsor of Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

In all seriousness, Memphis may not be a bad choice. It could be paired up with Iowa State and help reduce the gap to West Virginia Island. If Houston has to be the 12th member, then it may make more sense for the Big XII to become the Big XIV and add 2 more teams.

North: Everyone else
South: 5 TX schools and 2 OK schools

FWIW the Big XII still owns the copyrights to the Big XIV and Big XVI names.
